Australian Passports

I’m going overseas soon and thought it necessary to renew my passport with my married name. Not a big deal I figured…ha! how wrong could I have been.

My husband and I were married in Hawaii in 2003 and me being ’slack’, didn’t give the passport another thought. I changed all my bank accounts and licence and all the other necessary things over to my married name without a hitch…but the passport, well lets say after buying our first home, overseas travel wasnt on the top of my list so neither was the passport.

Now, I find that not only will the Australian passport office not recognise my Hawaiian marriage certificate, they expect me to register a change of name form with ‘hatched, matched and dispatched’ (also known as births, deaths and marriages) at a cost of $41 to register and $17.50 for the certificate. And, the form (and trust me, the form I’m required to complete has more information about me than my parents would even know!) must have attached signed photo copied proof from a police officer, of bank accounts, photo license…etc. Talk about full on!

Once I’ve submitted all this, the Register of Births, Deaths and Marriages will hopefully send me the certificate I need to then apply for a (wait for it), New passport (mind you the other one still has 6 good years of life in it…just the wrong name) but I must apply for a brand new passport…10 years worth (another measly $172) but hey…what the hell…it’s all worth it in the end, I’m off to Phoenix! Well, at least I hope so…if I ever get finished filling out the forms, making the photo copies, getting them signed…now where’s my wallet?

Another Blonde moment!

For those of you who don’t know me, I have ‘blonde moments’ on a regular basis and today was no exception.

I got all the information to get BuffysBlog up and running…well, I didn’t get all the information personally…it was given to me, but anyway…I got it, and do you think I could get it to work? Ha! course not!

Why in the hell can’t people write instructions in ‘blonde’ english? Whats with all this code? I don’t do code (or cook, but that’s another story)…all I want to do is change the look of my blog…I’m not into blue…I want pink. Do you think I can find the ‘pink’ button…nup!

So, if anyone happens to be passing by and reads this, can you let me know…step by step instructions on how I can Buffy-fy my blog…Please :)
